The English company has presented new generation of the popular coupe. However, it is necessary to tell at once that new Continental GT is not such and new. After all it is constructed on the same platform, as the previous model, but this absolutely normal phenomenon. Bentley not a mark which constantly creates essentially new models. Yes it also isn't necessary for it.
Outwardly old and new car are similar against each other. However Englishmen assure that in Continental GT 2010 all body details are created anew. And over a suspender too have worked properly. As a result Continental GT hardly became wider than the predecessor (+24 mm) and above on 14 mm. However, the length and a wheelbase hasn't changed.
The engine, at first sight, same. It W12 in volume 6,0 l. But it has been seriously modernized, therefore its capacity has grown from 560 h.p. to 575 h.p. the maximum twisting moment – to 700 Nm (was 650 Nm earlier) has increased also. The updated motor hasn't hoisted the maximum speed of the car (it makes still 318 km/h), but here dispersal from 0 to100 km/h was reduced on 0,2 sec (to 4,6).
It is interesting that Bentley Continental GT engine allows to fill in a tank not only usual gasoline, but bioethanol also. However, last function will be interesting only to the European buyers. Sometimes buyers Continental GT also think about fuel consumption even for such car. The average expense 6,0-liter W12 makes 16,5 l of gasoline on each 100 km of a way.
As before, Continental GT will have all-wheel drive transmission but if it was a question of a symmetric drive gear now 60 % of a twisting moment will be transferred to a rear axle earlier. It has allowed to make roadability of more predicted.
However there is also a surprise – apparently, Continental GT will receive the weak motor. It is a question about V8 in volume 4,0 l. Technical characteristics of this unit aren't disclosed yet.
