A military version of the 2003 Silverado is called MILCOTS (Militarized Commercial Off-The-Shelf or colloquially as the "Milverado") and is being purchased by the Canadian Forces. CF has ordered 1,061 units from GM Defense.A similar but more armoured platform is being used by the US Army under the COMBATT (Commercially Based Tactical Truck) program.
